Haus Architekturbüro
the what and the how
by sandra b.
The foundation of the house was built using traditional construction methods with armored concrete. This includes the basement and a natural cellar.
As the house is in a slope, the basement and part of the first floor are underground. The works was carried out by Hawa Holz and GLB Jura.
Hawa Holz did a fantastic job in fighting the rain and digging all the clay. They were incredibly efficient and fast. The prepared the terrain for GLB Jura
After all the digging and slop containment was done, GLB Jura proceeded to build the foundations with a natural cellar.
The piping of the water and electricity were casted in the concrete.
Once the cellar was finished, Hawa Holz proceeded to build a beautiful Jura Limestone wall to contain the slope. As the house is located in a slope, we needed to leave a safety distance between the slope and the house. This distance is about 3m or more. So the first floor of the living house is not below earth. Unfortunately, the old part of the house we kept is under earth. There we do have humidity problems. Specially when it rains, the walls get humid. However, we use this space for the Technical stuff such as boiler, water, etc.
