The house has 3 floors, and a cellar.
The first floor has the entrance, an office room, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and the washing machine room. Each room has exit to the outside. We plan to build a terrace around the house, so one can simply go outside from within the room. Literally you are showering looking to the mountains (we have no neighbors on that side).
The second floor consists of the kitchen, living room, sofa room, guest bathroom, reduit, and the piano room. This floor also has access to the outside trough the kitchen and through the piano room. This floor connects directly to the barn via a door in the piano room.
The third floor is in infancy. But it will consist in a main room, a walking closet, a bathroom, and a meditation room.
The Cellar consist in two rooms. One is a natural cellar. The other one is a normal cellar. The natural cellar was conceived for food storage.
If you are asking yourself, is it hot in summer. Surprisingly not. The stamped clay wall and the clay walls in general regulates the heat inside, and the rear-ventilated facade hampers the heat to get in. I can say so far the temperature has been about 21°C - 23°C.
It does not feel humid. I can get a bit hot if the curtains are not used.
The house has lots of windows. The heat mostly comes from the south windows. We do not have stores yet, but we are planning to build them. For the moment we use double layer curtains. The first layer is wool, the second is a UV thermal protection layer. It really prevents the heating coming in.
So far, during summer, the temperature drops during the night. So we open the windows to cool down the house. I foresee this scenario might change with time. The good news is, the clay climate panels can also pump cold water. So we can use the system to cool down the house if needed.
We just moved in August 2024. Now we are in October 2024. So far we have used the Wooden Stove from Pertinger 2 times. The temperatures has been about 21°C - 23°C. The climate is great, and we have not felt a difference from Summer time. But winter will tell. We will keep you updated
It does not feel humid. It really feels like being outside in a Indian summer kind of day. Perfect moisture and perfect temperature. Simply cosy.
About the hot water
The hot water is delivered by the usage of solar panels alone, the wooden stove alone or a combination of both. It depends on the day.
